Brage open air museum arranges a wide array of yearly events:
Winter holiday fun
During the winter holiday week in the end of February/beginning of March the museum arranges an activity day for the whole family. Visitors can try different kinds of snow games, maybe catch a ride in the horse sleigh or try their hands at carding and spinning wool in the warmth of the open fire in the main building.
May Day at Brage
On May Day the museum is open. Guided tours of the main building are offered and in the Cottage Café we serve freshly made waffles.
Childrens’ Day
The annual Childrens’ Day event is popular among young and old alike. The museum is brought to life with different kinds of farm animals. Workshops in arts and crafts are offered, and in the Cottage Café we serve waffles. Entrance to the museum and most of the activities is free, some workshops may charge a small fee.
The Brage fair
The Brage harvest fair is arranged every year in September. At the fair you can stock up on harvest produce and locally crafted goods.
Lucia celebration
Lucia has been celebrated by the Brage association for over 80 years. Lucia is elected by vote each year, and crowned in Vaasa Trinity church on December 13, Saint Lucia’s Day. The Lucia procession through Vaasa takes place in the evening, followed by a celebration in the City Hall. The profit from the election is donated to charity.
